Teen/Adult Programs
The kids aren't the only ones having fun this summer! We wanted to do some fun things for the teens and adults too!
Our sesquicentennial celebration continues with a Cemetery Walk. Please join us at the canon at the Columbus City Cemetery on June 2, as walks will begin from there every 15 minutes (6 pm, 6:15 pm, and 6:30 pm). Small groups will leave at those times to hear local stories of local individuals - a doctor, a murder victim, an undertaker, a teacher, and a couple who had a life that only fiction could dream up.
Summer is the perfect time to start up with Book Club! We would love to have you join us at 5 pm during the months of June, July, and August - a bit earlier in the evening to accommodate for summer! Books are always available in physical copy at the library or on audio available on Libby.
June 10: "When Grumpy Met Sunshine" by Charlotte Stein
Preorder your drink from Sol and we'll have them delivered to the library that night!
July 8: "Clap When You Land" by Elizabeth Acevedo
We'll also try some Dominican food to fit with the book!
August: "Tacos for Two" by Betsy St. Amant
We'll meet at El Mariachi and the Friends of the Library will provide some appetizers for our book discussion!
Paint by Number is all the rage this year, and so we're bringing it to the library. July 5 from 1-4 pm you can paint your own masterpiece! We'll provide all the supplies but would appreciate an RSVP to confirm we have enough for everyone! You'll sit with headphones in (or not), sipping your drinky drink, snacking on some snacky snacks, and just being creative!
Silent Book Club is a brand new idea, and it's perfect for the introverts! Book Club meets at a designated place and time to read silently for an hour, but in the general vicinity of other readers. It's perfect for a kick start to your day or a lunch! We'll be purchasing from the locations we're meeting at, but there's not a requirement to do so! Join us on one of these days:
August 1 or August 15 @ 7 am @ Bard Station Coffee Shop
As seen on TikTok, we'll be making Book Nooks or a shelf insert for your bookshelf! Join us August 2 from 1-4 pm to make a Book Nook! The library will provide all the supplies, though if there's a specific vision you have for yours, please bring those specific supplies. Again, RSVP most appreciated in to ensure enough supplies are available for all. You can create so many different styles - based yours on a vibe you love when you're reading, the cozy library of your dreams, or style it after your favorite book!
